Dentist ordeal

JR went in for his checkup at the dentist last month. The results of his checkup: he had 6 cavities and the dentist was recommending that we go to the surgery center at the hospital and have him put under general anesthetic to fix them. I was traumatized - 6 cavities?!?! How? We hardly ever let him have candy and he has only missed brushing his teeth about 3 times since he's had teeth. And to think about putting my baby under general anesthetic, and just for cavities?!? So we got a second opinion. The second dentist said it looked like just 4 cavities and he would do it in the office with a little nitrous oxide. Well, we went to the dentist to get the cavities filled and after the dentist looked at the x-rays he thought that there were only 2 cavities that needed a filling. JR got a grape scented nitrous mask and put on his headphones for his CD player and he was fine. He squirmed a couple times, but I did that too when I went to the dentist. It turned out fine, two cavities filled. But now we are brushing at least twice a day and flossing and using mouthwash every night.
