Two Months Old

Tristan will be two months old tomorrow! Time is just flying by. We went for his two month check up yesterday and he is 12 lbs and 24 inches long. He is doing really well. He has been drooling a lot and likes to chew on our fingers, but the Dr. said she couldn't tell if teeth were coming in. I'm really hoping they are not, but I don't really want a drooly kid either. Tristan also got his first set of shots yesterday. He did well and seems to be fine now.

Here is our two month old . . .

It's great to have a big brother

JR has been a great big brother so far. He is so loving with Tristan and always gives him hugs and kisses and is even sharing his toys. The best thing is that he is great at entertaining Tristan, and Tristan LOVES to watch JR play. JR can keep Tristan from fussing while I make dinner just by playing with his toys for Tristan or dancing. It's been a big help and I love to see them bond. I hope they grow up to be great pals. Here's a video of JR entertaining Tristan.

The poopy face

One month olds don't do a whole lot - they eat, sleep, cry, pee and poop. That leaves very little to post about. And as most parents will be able to relate, people with very young children discuss pooping a lot. So I give you the poopy face. Tristan makes a cute little face when he poops where he makes his mouth really small and has a serious look on his face. This is usually followed by a smile when he is done. All of this helps with timing of the diaper changes. I didn't catch the smile, but here is a picture for you.

JR's haircut

JR finally got his shaggy hair cut. Mimi was so nice to watch the baby while I gave JR a hair cut. She even bought popsicles so we headed out in the backyard and JR ate his popsicle while I cut his hair. This was a great idea because I am slow at cutting hair. JR sat (mostly) still for the whole thing. It's not a perfectly straight cut, but luckily he has curly hair and it's not very noticable. Here is a picture of JR hiding behind the chair because he didn't want me to take a picture of his haircut.

JR the train engineer

JR got a train engineer costume for Christmas from his uncle. Last week we pulled it out and he had a blast with it. He really got into it and gave us tickets for our trip to Hawaii, set his pocket watch, and told us the departure times for our train. He wore it almost all day, even to go play tennis at the park. Isn't he cute?

Mimi came to visit

We had fun with Mimi last week while James was at a conference.

Mimi got to meet Tristan for the first time.

Mimi was so great at playing with JR and helping out while I was busy with the baby.

So much fun with Mimi!

One Month Old

Tristan is one month old! Actually he is four weeks old. Since he was born on the 31st of Jan, when exactly is he one month? Is it the last day of Feb? Is it 3 days after the 28th, Mar 3rd, which is when Feb 31st would be if Feb had that many days? I don't know, but he's growing fast. He now weighs in at 10 lbs. 7 oz. and is 22 inches long.

First Smile!

I got the first smile! Well it's more like an open mouth, but it's definitely a happy social response. And I got it first. James is so jealous, but he got JR's first smile. I was playing pat-a-cake with Tristan and he just started opening his mouth really wide when I would do it. A few times it was a wide mouth with a grin - certainly the start of a smile!
